Valliyoor subrahmanyan kovil is one of the ancient temples in south india dedicate to lord muruga at valliyur. the presiding deity of this temple is lord muruga with his consort valli. a rock cut sanctum sanatorium which carved from a hill is the star attraction of valliyoor subrahmanyan kovil. yamirukka bhayamen is the theme of this temple which means why are you fear when i here. thousands of devotees reach here at every year to fulfill their wish, couples without child became fulfill their wish after visit here. it is believed that the devotees here never back without bloom their wish.

saravanapokai is the holy temple tank at valliyoor subrahmanyan kovil. natrajar and dakshina moorthy are the sub deities exist in the temple complex, then there are several mandapams surrounding with mit. the star attractionn of the temple is the prime deity holding a diamond studded vel. vel is the weapon of lord muruga, it was built during the period of pandya kings, according to the legends it says that sage agathyar and indra worshiped subrahmanya here.giri pradikshanam is the most popular celebration at valliyoor subrahmanyan kovil which lasts for seven days, very seven days of the festival, there are special rituals carrying out during this period.

Skanda shashti is very important festival in all muruga temples, as same it also celebrate skanda shashti in tamil month karthigai. annual festival of this temple usually holds in tamil month chithirai. valliyur is located 12 km from nanguneri. it ca be directly access from the cities like banglore, chennai, madurai etc. thirunelveli is the nearest railway station which is about 43 from the temple. trivandrum and madurai are the nearest airports with distances 113 and 202 km respectively.
