Vadakkan koyikkal devi kshethra is a popular devi temple in kerala located at puthiyavila village nearkayamkulam in alappuzha district. main deity is goddess parvathy, consort of lord shiva. however there is a separate installation for lord shiva is also in the temple. two storied architecture is the star attraction. goddess parvathy installed in first floor and shiva placed in the first floor. yakshi, nagadevatha, bhadrakali, sree dharma sastha are the sub deities of the temple. most of shiva temples in kerala placed shiva with parvathy. chengannur mahadeva temple is the popular shiva temple with parvathy located adjacent to vadakkan koyikkal kshethra.

Kumbha bharani festival is the most celebrated event at Vadakkan koyikkal devi kshethra, which annually conducts by the temple authority. it host in malayalam month march or april which may vary according to the malayalam calendar, it commonly falls in malayalam month kubham. so that the event got the name kumbha bharani. the event is usually conducts in almost devi temples in south kerala. the celebration is lasts for ten days. kettukazhcha is the highlight event belongs to the temple. kettukazcha is very huge structure of horses which made by some raw materials and wood. kettukazcha procession will carried out of temple by the devotees. kettukazhcha event.
