Tirunavaya mukunda kshethra is one of the popular vishnu temple in kerala dedicate to lord vishnu, mukunda is another name of lord krishna, the incarnation of lord vishnu. tirunvaya mukunda temple located at the banks of bharathappuzha, which is the second largest river in kerala. tirunavaya mukunda temple got world attention by hosting the popular mamankam festival. it was initiated since AD 829. mamankam holds after every twelve years. last mamankam was held on 1755. nava mmukundan literally means narayana vishnu. it was the place where nine sages worshiped vishnu this nine sages collectively called nava yogis they worshiped lord vishnu and finally vishnu appeared in front of them and hence this place called thirunavayogi and later it known as thirunavaya,

Tirunavaya mukunda kshethra is famous for offering ancestral rituals during karkkidaka vavu event, at the banks of holy river bharathappuzha for the departed souls. there are thousands of people head to the spot for the rituals. the sub deities of the temple are lakshmi, sastha and ganapathy. goddess lakshmi installed separately in the sree kovil. tirunvaya mukunda temple follows a kerala style of architecture as usual in all kerala temples. the idol of the temple made with five metals called panchaloha, it is only visible only from above knee and facing to east direction.

Tirunavaya mukunda temple pooja offerings

Lotus garland and ghee lamp are the main offerings for the prime deity. pal payasam and thali charthal are the other two main offerings for lord vishnu here. ten day annual festival is the main event in tirunavaya mukunda kshethra. it located at malppuram district and 12 km south of tirur. thirunavaya is very close to the temple in kozhikode district. it ha both rail head and bus terminal. the nearest airport is located at karipur at a distance of 32 km in malappuram district.
