Thiruvallam parasurama temple – location, installation and sub deities

A cave kshethra in trivandrum district famous for its architecture. thiruvallam parasurama temple became the unique one because of the cave temple made from a single stone. this kshethra is also famous for doing ancestral rites. the outside wall of the temple specialized with the sculptures of lord shiva and parvathy. single stone carved out temple is square in shape, however there are not more inscriptions on the walls. it is believed that the stone temple built in eighth century during the period of cholas. this is the only parasurama temple in india as the courtesy for doing ancestral rites inside the temple.

The idol of the deity is with four hands showing resemblances with the image of lord vishnu, because it holds shamkh, chakra and pathma but the idol of parasurama holds axe instead of gada. it says that the image for the temple when he was came here for bali tharppan. after doing the rituals he made it from and installed for the temple. thiruvallam kshethra located 3 feet under from ground level. lord krishna, ganesh and kanyava are the sub deities posted here. the mian peculiarity is the separate installation for brahma, vishnu and mahadev.

After reach at the makhamandapam by stepping three feet ground, it must need outer rounding before enter to the sree kovil. the idol of parasurama facing to northern direction. shivalingam placed facing to eastern direction. both of these two idols has same importance. thiruvallam parasurama temple became unique by two sreekovils and two beacons. the idol of brahma and sreekovil sandwiched between these two’s. the sub deities exist close to shivan kovil are mahishasura mardini, subrahmanya, mathsya moorthy and veda vyaasa. devotees headed to thiruvallam because of the installation of brahma, vishnu and mahadev and the only parasurama temple in india
