Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple is the wonderful architecture which carved from the rrocks dedicated to lord karthikaeya, this is one of the six adobes of lord murugan located at thiruparankundram of tamilnadu state. this is one of the ancient temple structures in South India which built in 6th century during the period of pandyas.
the temple located very close to Madurai, according to the hindu legends this is the place where lord karthikeya kill the cruel demon sura padma, and married deivayani, the daughter of the indra. Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple is a cave temple which is about 1050 feet high from the sea level. shiva, vishnu, durga and vinayaka are the sub deities of the temple.

According to the hindu legends lord brhama is not worshiped in any temples it was a curse to brahma by lord shiva, but this is the only temple by which is famous for worshiping lord brahmaa, has a great significance in the temple. the temple architeture is extremely a wondering one the gopuras are visible far from the temple such a wonderful structue contributed by the king sundara varma paandiyan. there are three halls named kambhathadi mandapam, ardha mandapam and maha mandapam which leads to the main sanctum of the temple. lord vishnu and shiva are separate shrines which facing to each other.

The Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple is rich with lot of temple festivals the main festivals hosts in the temple are vaikasi visakam, chithra festival, tamil new year festival, vijaya dasami, navarathri, thirukarthigai and marghazhi pooja etc. Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple located 7 km from Madurai city so it is easy to reach by buses from madurai. Madurai is also the nearest major rail head to the temple. Madurai airport is located 10 km away from the temple.
