Thiru Nageswaran rahu temple is well known as parkara place of rahu, this is one among the nine snake according to the hindu mythology. thirunagaswami is the prime deity of this temple.adhiseshan, dhatschagan, gowthamar, nandi, sekkizhar and bhagirathan are th e sub deities inside the temple compound. the pooja timings are sheduled as six in a day. the specialty of rahu, which is installed in other temples with human head and snake body. but this is the only rahu temple showing the installation of rahu in a human form. devotees pray rahu to have good health, wealth and better life conditions. here ragu bhagavan installed with nagavalli and nagakani as mangalakani.

milk abhishekam is the main offering at Thiru Nageswaran rahu temple which which clears all rahu doshas. during the time of abhishegam, the milk poured to the idol it become blue. soorya pushkarni is the holy water source of the temple. special rituals are performed when the rahu switch to another planetary position. this event takes place once in every eighteen months. thirunagaswami rahu temple follows a chola style of architecture. it was built during the period of chola dynasty by the king adithya chola I. this is one of the ancient temples in india which built in 7th century.

Brahmotsavam is the mega event host at the temple which is usually falls in tamil month karthigai which lasts for 10 days, at the last day of festival grand procession of deity will takes place. kanda shashty utsavam celebrated for 6 days. sekkizhar vaigasi pooja, sivarathri and navarathri also celebrated in the temple. kumbhakonam is the nearest city at a distance of 7 km having the well facilities to connect the temple and to the main cities. the nearest possible rail heads is thiruvadaimarudur which is about 5 km from thirunageswaram. thiruchirappalli is the nearest airport located at a distance of 109 km.
