Swedaranyeswarar kovil is famous temple in tamilnadu by worshiping one of the nine planets according to the hindu mythology. Swedaranyeswarar kovil or budha is the prime deity of this temple, Swedaranyeswarar kovil is the form of lord shiva. Swedaranyeswarar is one among the fifty one sakthi peethams of lor shiva. the feature of this temple lord shiva in the furious form which is also known as aghora moorthy. lord shiva is also the lord of dance so that he also known as nataraja,in this temple lord shiva with the nine forms of dance is exposed. this is the shrine for representing the one of nine planets whch is budha. it is responsible for removing the obstacles on education, so there are thousands of devotes reach to have well education for them.

The holy water sources of the temple called theerthams, theerthams occupying in the Swedaranyeswarar kovil are surya theertham, chandra theertham and agni theertham. vilwa tree is the holy tree in the temple compound. the leaves of this tree called vilwa pathra which is the favorite of lord shiva so that this will provide as a main offering in shiva temples. kali, natraja, murugan, durga are the sub deities installed in the templ, also there is a separate installation for the 63 sages of lord shiva which known as arupathu moolavar.

There are six daily rituals takes place in Swedaranyeswaarar kovil. 10 day annual festival hosts in tamil month masi. navarathri is also a grand event here.
