Perur patteswaraswami temple is the holy place located at the banks of river noyyal popular for doing ancestral rites by the devotees. this is one of the crowded pilgrim destinations in india. Perur Pateeswarar temple dedicate to lord shiva lies near coimbatore in tamil nadu state. The main characteristic of this temple is the dravidan style especially kanaka sabha. The most attractive golden hall is termed as kanaka sabha which has a main idol of nataraja plated with gold in blessing posture to his sages. the beautiful sculptures are also the highlight of kanaka sabha.

It was built during the period of chola yuga by karikala chola. The holy trees of this kovil is palm and tamarind trees. lord ganesha is the main sub deity of perur patteswaraswami temple which is commonly known as patti vinayagar. separate postures from shiv purana is also exhibited in a very well manner. The sanctum sanatorium is called garbha griha is used to place the main deity in the form of linga. the holy cow kamadhenu established at the sanatorium of kovil. It is believed that this was the place where lord shiva performed ananda thandavam.

According to the hindu legends it is believed that the deity of this kovil is self manifested one. It was founded by the holy cow kamadhenu during his play inside the forest by the blood flowing from the rock there exist. finally it discovered the linga. Panguni uthram is the annual temple festival that usually falls in tamil month panguni. The annual dance festival is the core attraction of perur patteswaraswami temple.
