Parassinikadavu muthappan temple is one of the famous temples in kerala which located ta thali of kannur district, the principal deity is lord shiva is worshiped as parassinikadavu muthappan, is a manifestation of two characters called thiruvappana and vellattam. the temple is located 20 km away from kannur. the holy temple is located ta the banks of valapattanam river and the water become pure by the blessings of lord shiva. the temple is administrated and maintained by the malabar devaswom board.

There are many dogs are seen in the surroundings of the temple sree muthappann is acccompanied by the dog. this is the unoque feature of this temple, there are two staues with bronze are focused at the entrance of the temple, it is believed that the dogs are the dogs are the body guards of the prime deity.
