Lakshmanaswami theertham is an ancient temple at rameswaram in tamilnadu. lord rama and lakshmana are the prime deities in the temple. there is also an installation for lord shiva, it says hat ijnstallation of lord shiva actually done by lakshmana. lakshamana theertha is the holy water source of the temple which created by lakshmana. according to Hindu mythology it is the initial spot of the journey to sethu theertha yathra. the single dip in the water of this holy source washes away all sins of humans. this place is also famous for doing the ancestral rituals for the departed souls.

it is believed that lakshmana and balarama do the offerings to prime deity at lakshmanaswami theertham. during the kurukshethra war period he don’t interested in the war and went to the pilgrim, on the way of his journey he met soudha maharshi at naimicharnya, he did not respect balarama, he became furious and attacked him with his weapon.he died by the attack of him, then he feeling guilty about his mistake,. other sages advised him to do the rituals in lakshmana theertham to clear the sin. he went to lakshmana theertham and worship lord shiva. balarama is an incarnation of lord vishnu.
