kedarnath is a holy pilgrim center of india located at utharakhand state.the temple is one of the chota char dham dedicated to shiva.the temple is located in himalayas.kedarnath is known by the name king kedarnath,vrinda was his daughter,who performed rituals for goddess lakshmi after that the place known as vrindavanam,but it is believed that the temple is actually built by pandavas for worshiping god shiva.the temple is closed during winter because of heavy snowfall from november to april same as in badrinath.a triangular shaped jyothirlingam is the idol of the temple that is worshiped in garbhagriha.the images of ancient myth can be seen in the walls of the temple.it is believed that the samadhi of sankaracharya occurred here.

Kedarnath is 223 km away from rishikesh,the temple is close to the origin of mandakini river,the temple and nearby places affected by water flood from mandakini river,the surrounding places of kedaarnath destroyed,lot of peoples dead and miss by this trgedy,but the temple was really overcome from the incident and survived.the temple is protected under the act of utharakhand government by the act of badrinath temple act 16.the temple was opened in 2017 may 3 and it will close in 21 october 2017.the temple is always open for the devotees except the timings from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm,before 3.00 pm devotees can perform abhishekam on the idol with ghee.

From the bus station of rishikesh it takes 5 hour to reach the temple,transport buses services available.the nearest airport from the temple is jolly grant airport at dehrah dun,which is 239 km away from kedarnath,taxi services available from there to reach kedar nath,it is easy to reach at temple by helicopter service,the helicopter available places in utharakhand are the following dehrah dun,gauchar,agustmuni,phata and sitapur.the nearest railway station from the temple are rishikesh,haridwar,kotdwar etc.but the major station is haridwar and this is the only station connect the trains to other metropolitan cities of india
