Kattil mekkethil temple is one of the famous temples in kerala which sandwiched between lake and sea in kollam district. the prime deity of kattil mekketil temple is goddess bhadrakali commonly known as kattil mekkethil amma. arabian sea and T.S canal are the borders of this temple. the location where the temple situated giving a spectacular view with coconut trees. it is very popular for the offering manikettal which is to fulfil the wishes of the devotees. many devotees from all over the country headed to kattil mekkethil to tie the sacred bells from temple.

• devotees go round seven times before submitting the bell on the banyan tree. devotees make a wish at the last round before fit into the tree. this temple become popular recently and daily thousands of devotees coming here for worship.

Location

Devotees believed that the prime deity goddess bhagavathy is more powerful one because the temple still remaining in the current stage after the tsunami on 2004. it is believed that the visit in this temple at least seven times to fulfill the wishes of the devotees. kattil mekkethil deity is also known as meettu meekathil amma. 12 days mahotsavam lasts for twelve days which falls in malayalam month vrichikam, lot of huts are built during the festival season for staying the devotees.

• there is only rupee 30 for the bell offering at the temple, The banyan tree’s weakest branches could not bear the weight of the brass bells and had even come down. this is one of the rare temple which located in between a sea and lake
