Chittoor is a small village located in ernakulam district which famous by the presence of lord krishna temple. this is one of the ancient temple in kerala and situating south of chittoor village. the prime deity of chittoor sri krishna swami temple is lord krishna which commonly known as sri chittoorappan. cochin devaswom board is responsible for administration of the temple. in old days it was close associated with cheranalllor family in kochi and has a history of centuries ago. The prime deity is installed in a standing posture and is in chathurtbahu posture.
The holy water source of chittoor sri krishna swami temple is called agnihothratheertham which situating near to kovil. this holy water source is mainly used to arattu ceremony which is the holy bath of lord. chittoor sri krishna temple is an example of typical kerala style of architecture including namaskara mandapam, nalambalam, vilakkumadam and oottupura. as usual in other krishna kovils palapayasam is the main offering here. The huge image of kaliya mardana at the entrance will welcome the devotees inside of the kovil. It seems that the temple is not promoting elephants for processions because it is considered the prime deity famous as garuda vahana.
Except the main deity the complex of the temple includes shiva, ganapathy, nagadevathas etc in its compound. The rituals are started after adiya enna ritual. temple opens daily at 3’o clock. ekadashi is the main ceremony celebrating here. chittoor sri krishna swami temple is surrounded by coconut trees and beautiful backwater, it will easy to headed to the destination because which connecting easy from ernakulam. backwater services is always available to reach the temple.
