Ameda is the popular temple dedicated to sapthamathruka, located at the banks of vembanad lake. the specialty of ameda temple which is not specifying for a particular deity, it giving equal importance for each deities exist in the temple. ameda temple has the principal deities veerabhadra, ganapathy, brahmani, maheswari, kowmari, vaishnavi, indrani and chamundi. ameda temple situated at thrippunithura in ernakulam district. there are separate place for nagayakshi and nagaraja. a small temple is also associated with ameda for lord vishnu.
Guruthy pooja is the main offering dedicate to goddess chamundi. mura japam, pulluvan pattu, thrikarthika archana are the main offering at ameda. ayilyam days of malaylam months kanni, thulam, vrichikam and meenam are the holy days for naga yakshi and naga raja. darshan on these particular days are to obtain the blessings of serpant gods. special poojas also followed with these particular days. sarppa bali and ashta naga pooja are conducting here for the blessings of nagas. ameda mangalam family has the responsibility to the temple administration.
Pooram festival is the main event host at ameda which lasts for normally falls in malayalam month meenam, some special occasions like ayilya dasrhanam, utsava bali, valiya vilakku organized along with this, celebrations end with the arattu. there are three doors for the sanctum of ameda temple, they are only open on this festival days for the darshan. final day of 41 naal mandalam is also celebrated as a great function and the door of the sanctum also open on this day. thripunithura is the nearest city having the facilities of both rail and bus which is about 8 km distance from ameda temple. closest airport is at nedumbassery located at a distance of 40 km.
