Abath sagayeswarar kovil is one among the navagraha temple which dedicate to guru or Jupiter one among the nine planets. Abath sagayeswarar is the principal deity of the temple. in this temple lord dakshina moorthy has a great significance and lord vinyaka is a main sub deity in the temple. jupiter is the lord of curing all diseases, brahma theertha is the holy water source at the temple, it is believed that the lord will cure the diseases after bath in the holy water source and to pay to guru. amrita pushkarni is also the sacred water source of Abath sagayeswarar kovil. lord shiva is the prime deity.

There is a temple tree in the compound of the temple, which is called poolai, actually it is a plant. ganesha of this temple is most commonly known as kalangamal kathatha vinyagar, for curing all mental worries by the blessings of lord vinayaga. grass garland is the favorite offering to vinayaga. there are four daily rituals host in the temple which scheduled as morning, noon, evening and night. Thursday is the main praying day of Abath sagayeswarar kovil, so that it celebrated 3rd thursday of tamil month masi in a grand way. temple has an amazing architecture, there different stories relate with this temple.
