The temple administration decided to conduct the annual temple festival as usual in every year. udayanapuram murugan temple has a close relation with here, as per hindu legend lord shiva is the father of muruga. during the procession function in festival days there is an mythological meeting takes place with lord muruga and shiva. the unique feature of the vaikom mahadeva kshethram is worshiping lord shiva in three forms in three different pooja schedules daily. vaikathashtami is the 12th day of the festival, vaikathastami vilakku is the highlight of that day, is a highly valuable ritual on that particular day.
